The King has received the following reply to his message to the French President, M. Lebrun: "I thank you for the message you have been so kind to send me at this solemn occasion in the destiny of our two countries, united once more in defence of their honour and freedom.
"The British people are making ready, as they did 25 years ago, in the reign of your august father, to engage side by side 1 with the French people in a most noble undertaking— resistance to one of the most hateful acts of aggression recorded in history. In the nam* 6f France I salute the British people with emotion- . ►.*
"The ideal which inspires France and Britain, and their confidence in the strength of their union, will make them invincible.** ■ ■ '• - '
Sir Edmund Ironside, Commander-in-Chief of the Home Forces, has received the following message from the Polish Army Chief, Marshal Smigly-Rydz: "At this moment, when the British Empire lias taken up arms at the side of Poland against a nation which has violated the ideals of liberty and justice, I. beg to request you .to convey to the . glorious army of His Britannic Majesty the comradely .greetings of the Polish Army." ••••
