U.S.A. FOB SERVICE.

The Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, in reply to its offer to the Government of the services of itmembers in any suitable way, received the following replies to-day:-—

From the acting Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser: "On behalf of the Government I desire to acknowledge with grateful thanks the offer of assistance and co-operation in your tele-Train and to say that the assurances are greatly appreciated." From the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones: "Many thanks for the association's offer, which is much appreciated. You will be communicated with later if your services are required."

The "Bodkin" cup, which belongs to the Corporation of Portsmouth, was made in lo2">. The bowl is shaped like a font, and the stem like a trumpet. It is valued at £5000.
