MISS KATE KEESING.
One of the founders of the Auckland branch of the Victoria League, Miss Kate Keesing, died on Saturday at the age of 83. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Keeping, who first settled in Auckland in 1542. Mii-s Keesing gave to the museum valuable pieces of china, crystal, ivory and other objects dart. She was a prominent member of the soldiers' graves committee and was largely instrumental in having attention given to neglected graves in the Symonds Street Cemetery and in arranging for the erection of the memorial to fallen of the Maori wars that stands in the little reserve at the top of Wakefield Street.
