RECENT ACTIVITIES OF CLUBS AND SOCIETIES.
Welsh Society.—The guests attending the concert organised by the Welsh Society this week were presented with the emblem of Wales, the daffodil. An address on "Topical Welsh Events" was given by Mr. T. E. Price, J.P., the president of the Auckland Welsh Society. Those contributing to the programme included Mrs. E. Cameron, Madame Neville Davies, Misses Florence Williams, Gwen Morris, May Norris, Netta Siinich, Mona Kinley and Messrs. H. Williams, Stan Evans, H. McLennan, S. Knight and N. C. Bowler.
Yorkshire Society.—The members of the Yorkshire Society held an enjoyable social evening in the New Savoy rooms last nighi. The guests were received by Mrs. H. G. Staley, wife of the president, assisted by Mrs. H. Caton and Mrs. Varian. Vocal solos were presented by Mrs. Irwin with Mrs. Haywood as accompanist, and prizes were won by Mrs. H- Bishop, Mrs. Irwin, Mrs. Ball, Mr.. K'napton and Mr. Ball. The committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Mesdames Stone, Knapton, Barker and Ashworth.
Manx Society.—The monthly social of the Manx Society wae held in the Harmony Hall this week. Mr. and Mrs; T. Ellison were host and hostess. An enjoyable programme was presented, including items by Mrs. Rattray, Mrs. McPherson, Miss Audrey Harper, Miss Muriel Wells, and Mr. McKenna. Prizes were won by Mrs. G. Gatfield, Mrs. Outrim. Mr. ,G) Gatfield and Mr. piper.
Y.W.C.A. —Mm. C. Sharp presided at the wsekly meeting of the Y.W.CA. Mother*' .Club.' - AspecUJ welcome was given to Mre. L. Henderson, the first president of the club, and Mrs. A, Deery,
who has acted as secretary for the past year, was presented with a crystal vase. A combined social of the women's groups of the Y.W.C.A. was held in the Assembly Hall recently and many branches, including the Mother's Club, the Progressive Club, the Scottish and Kiaora Clubs, were represented.
Radiant. Health Club. —The Rev. A. Everil Orr gave a talk on the children's health camp at Campbell Bay at a recent meeting of the Radiant Health Club. Madame Fordham, the president, presided and vocal solos were given by Mr. Orr. Mr. Garrett was the accompanist.
Royal Society of St. George.—Mrs. P. Heath-Preest, the chairman, welcomed the guests at a bridge party held in the Farmers' Trading Company Tearooms by the Royal Society of St. George recently. She was assisted by Mrs. W. F. Allen, convener of the bridge circle. Prizewinners were Mre. R. Jennings, Mrs. E. Hardman and Mrs. Newman.
Friendly Bridge Club.—The monthly meeting of the Friendly Bridge Club was held in the.George Court Tearooms this week. Early spring flowers were used in the decorative scheme and a large number of bridge enthusiasts attended the function.
Comradca Club.—'The Comrades Club held their weekly social in the Fountain of Friendship Hall, where a large gathering of members and frienda spent a most enjoyable evening. Prize-winners were:—Competition. Mrs. Beasley, Mro. Davidson; Monte Carlo, Mr. Limonds, Miss Bellhouse, Mr. Young and partner; card winners, Mrs. Baker and Mr. Pelham.- Mrs. Sutherland supplied excellent dance music and Mr. Eigney was maeter of ctremoniM.
