SOCIAL DISEASE.
POSITION IN AUCKXAND
The need of more rigorous eteps to deal with social disease was stressed at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board last evening by Mr. W. K. Howitt. The medical superintendent, Dr. J. W. Craven, eaid the incidence for a seaport like Auckland wae not excessive. The question of compulsory notification had been discussed, but it might drive it underground and the people would not report. They 'wanted ti> encourage people to get treatment as early as possible. Dr. J. P. Hastings said parents failed in their duty to instruct their children. The chairman. Mr. Allan J. Moody", said representations would be made to the Minister of Health.
