CONFERENCE DECISIONS.
SCALE OF REMUNERATION;
Details of a conference held in Wellington between representatives of the British Medical Association and the Hospital Board's Association, which discussed medical staffing, were given in a report presented at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board laet evening. Decisions made at the conference were: —"(1) That it was desirable that all hospitals should be staffed on the 'open' principle —the utilisation of the services of as many as possible of the most highly qualified medical men in the district on a part-time basis; (2) that each appointment to the visiting staff should be for a period of not lees than three years; (3) that the remuneration of the visiting medical staff* ehould be on the basis of annual salary; (4) that ;■■, scale of payment for different hospitals should be drawn up by a liaison committee of the hospital boards and medical staff committee." The matter wae referred to the finance committee.
