HURDLES TO KING REY.
BEGORRAH RUNS TO FORM.
FINAL DAY AT RICCARTON.
The final day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National fixture at Riccarton this afternoon was the only race meeting held in the Dominion to-day, and it drew a large attendance, while the weather was fine and the track fast.
King Rey recorded his second success over the battens, and his most important to date, when he won the Sydenham Hurdles easily, Aussie Ra, who was second in the Grand National Hurdles, following him home. Begorrah, who accounted for the Spreydon Hurdles on Thursday, won the Styx Hurdles, while the divisions of the Longbeach Handicap went to Merry March, an outsider, and Gold Salute, the favourite.
Wagner won the Heathcote Handicap, the principal flat race, which was run as one event and not in divisions.
