Mr. Walter Nash and Mr. Montagu Norman consulted this afternoon to finalise details of export credit, which it is believed will be on the lines cabled earlier. A message on Friday last stated thai the City editors of the "Financial Times" and "Daily Herald" suggested that substantial export credits would be granted New Zealand instead of a loan. The "Daily Herald" said that a total of £1 ((,000,000, spread over two years, would be granted, partly under the Kxports Credit (oiarantee Department, but mostly under the Hoard of Trade's special powers. The credits would have to be spent wholly in Britain, but some of the sterling might be freed for Inning outside commodities, such as oil.
