ROOSEVELT WINS THE FINAL VICTORY.
MONETARY BILL. Power Restored To Devalue The Dollar. DIVISION IN SENATE. United Press Association.—Copyright. I I (Received 12.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 5. President Roosevelt won the final victory in the devaluation of the dollar when the Senate passed, by 43 votes to 39, the monetary measure restoring his power to further devalue the dollar over a period of two years. The measure beconaes law with the President's signature. Nineteen Democrats voted against the measure, but the Senate as a whole reversed the position it took up last week. Republicans contended that the Senate's action could not prevent the lapse of the monetary measure which ceased to operate on June 30 without Congressional continuation. The Attorney-General, Mr. Murphy, ruled, however, that the vote to-day restored the law.
