MT. ALBERT - NEWTON BIG GAME FOR CARLAW PARK.

The Auckland Rugby League's senior championship competition will be carried a further stage on Saturday, when in the second matches of the second round the principal game will be between Mount Albert and Newton. To date Mount Albert have had one loss and a draw, the latter last Saturday at Papakura, when the home team made a surprising stand. Mount Albert have a well-balanced team, combine efficiently and throughout the season have played bright and entertaining football. As was the case last year Newton this season have been slow to find team form, but their remarkable improvement in recent matches justifies their appearance in the main match of the day and it is expected that the game will be a closely-contested one.

Ponsonby have been drawn to meet North Shore in the earlier match on the No. 1 ground. Ponsonby have been pla\ing very attractive football and have a fast and clever set of backs, but they will be meeting a team which is noted tor its tenacity and all-round strength. On the No. 2 ground Marist will play Richmond and the issue between two well-matched teams should be close. C'itv will play Papakura in the early match on the No. 2 ground, a fixture that will be watched with interest in view ol Papakura s fine performance against the leaders last Saturday.
