"AN UNJUST BURDEN."
WAITEMATA COUNTY OPINION
A resolution embodying the view that | Hospital finance places au unjust burden on ratepayers is to be sent to tile Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. .1. Savage, by the Waitemata County Council. The comity clerk, Mr. C. A. Cawkwell. at a meeting of the council this morning, reported that the Takapuna Borough Council had submitted a resolution asking that it be laid before the council, and if the council approved, forwarded to the Prime Minister. The resolution read: — "That tli is council feels that a very unjust burden is being placed upon ratepayer* regarding hospital finance, inasmuch as ratepayer* are paying dual taxes. As it is the apparent intention of the Government to make increasing use of public hospital* through the operation of the Social Security Act, this otincil is of opinion that'the time i* opportune for the Government to treat he health of the people as it-- respon*i iiility, to iii t iomrf ise hospitals, and cieate a State medical service."
