TAUGHT TO SWIM.
TOTAL NEARLY 30,000.
(By Telegraph.—Preat Association.) WELLIXGTOX, Friday. A statement made to-day by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E.'Parry, shows that 28.000 people were taught to swim at a cost of 1/5 each during the national learn-to-swim campaign held last season. The Government gave £3000 toward the campaign. According to a report presented by Mr. F. O. Dunn, chairman of the committee responsible for the organisation of the campaign, the aim was to teach 75,000 persons. The disappointment was due in part to the unfavourable weather experienced.
