Dates; for Centennial celebrations already submitted were approved and will be forwarded to the various provincial committees for their guidance in avoiding clashes.

More than 100 applications for subsidies on Centennial memorial projects, over half being for parks ami treeplanting, were considered and approved. The council decided to recommend the fJovornment to grant all' possible facilities for the importation of whatever would be required for the Centennial. It. wa« agreed that March 31. 1040. be fixed as the final date on which original applications might be lodged for Centennial subsidies, and tlwit all subfidv moneys must be lifted by March 31. 1941. The I'nder-Secretarv of Internal Affairs, Mr. .T. \V. Tie instanced the response to Bishop Holland's cathedral fund and the Centennial Appeal of the Presbyterian Church. A motion was passed that in general the council favoured only one local Centennial memorial in any locality, except where the additional memorial was a troc-plantitiff protect and or an historical publication. Tn special case*, however, the council was prepared to consider more than one memorial.
