DOCTORS MEET MINISTER.

CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON.

A conference between representatives of the Government and the medical profession on the general practitioner service of the Social Security scheme opened in the office of the Minister of Health, the Hon. P. Fraser, to-dav.

In association with Mr. Fraser were Dr. R. A. Shore, acting-Director-General of Health, Mr. A. E. von Keisenberg, secretary of the Health Department, and Dr. D. *G. McMillan, M.P. The representatives of the. British Medical Association were Dr. J. P. Jamieson, chairman of the National Health Insurance Committee of the New Zealand branch of the association; Dr. F. T. Bowerbank. chairman of the Council of Doctor*, and Mr. T. D. M. Stout, of Wellington, Dr. J. P. Duncan, of Wangamii, Dr. Li J. Hunter, of Palmerston North, and Dr. P. P. Lynch, honorary Sonera 1 secretary.

Representatives of the Medical Association and the Minister of Health later had a lengthy discussion with the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, who stated afterwards that no comment was desirable at the present stage.
