LOWER COUNTY RATE.
(From Our Correspondent.'* GfSBOnXK. Thursday. A decrease of £4000 in the rate to be struck in Cook County was decided upon bv the Cook County Council at a special meeting. The total will he approximately £4.">.000. compared with £45,5.">4. The rate in the pound shows a wide variation from last year because of the higher total of the valnation and the reduction in the amofmt to be struck. The rate proposed is 4 7-Bd, compared with 6 5-84.
