Dr. Rudolf Brinkmann, Secretary of State to the Ministry of Economics, has been retired at Herr Hitler's orders on the ground of illhealth. He has also been removed i'rom the board of the Reichsbank. In a recent speech at Cologne Dr. Brinkmann declared that (Germany was paying for a single gun of inferior quality a price sufficient for ten. Raw material resources, he said, were of such inferior quality as to threaten national economy. "What use are guns without ammunition, 'planes without fuel and an army that is not properly fed?" he asked. Dr. Brinkmann was appointed Secretary of State to the Ministry of Economics last year, though he has been a member of the staff since 1034. He has been a director of the Reichsbank for the past eight years. He is 46 years of age.
