Congratulations were extended at the monthly gathering last night of the Northcote Returned Soldiers' Association to the secretary, Mr. E. J. Norrie, on his election ae a member of the committee of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association. The president, Mr. A. V. Tyer, who occupied the chair, said that the annual ball would be held in June in the King's Theatre and that, the ladies' committee had organised a bridge evening for a fortnight hence. The innovation of indoor bowls, which had been in progreai during the past month, had proved most popular with the members. Mr. Tyer also paid a tribute to the work of the Xorthcotc Women's Progressive League in the interests of the returned men. Enjoyable items included eong9 by Mr. Leslie Russell, recitations by Mr. H. Kilburn, mouth-organ selections by Mr. A. S. Broadribb. and instrumental selections by Meserc W Mayall (piano) and Geoffrey Crawford (aazophone).
