Any south of Auckland are asked to communicate with, Mr. S. M. Thomson, ( 000, Milson Line, Palmerston North. ■ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ MACS REVENGE The Frenchman's Lou Mac and Bill had spent the evening . at an estaminet and were, as a naval I radio commentator at the Coronation i Review said, "All lit up." Each had a ■ pay-book liberally marked with red ink,
and, funds not being too good, were anxious to get to camp in time to avoid further monetary losses. Neither, however, had a watch and the only man in sight on the cobbled road was a French soldier in hie horizon-blue uniform. Sailing up to him Mac asked him the time, only to be met by a long stare, ending in an expansive smile. "What's the blanky time, Froggy?" insisted Mac, with his cobber chipping in as well. More grinning by the Frenchman and a repetition of "Non comprenez." Mae kept on trying, but finally got fed up and burst out: "All right, you won't tell me the time. Well, I know where there's a nice pond full of fat frogs, and I won't veil you!" And off the twain staggered, Mac qtlite satisfied that he had got his own ba«k. F.C.D.
