LOST TRAILS
"Unlucky 13th" Search Many old comradeships have been renewed through the medium of "The Page"' and the quest for the whereabouts of former pals continues. Further correspondence is as follows: — 23318, A. A. Todd, Mititai, Northern Wairoa, writes: — The "Week-End Pictorial" dated February IS was picked lip by me and imagine my surprise at finding a picture of No. 4 Platoon, E Company, 13th Regiforcements, this photo being sent in by "T.W.W." Auckland. I would very much like to get in touch with "T.W.W.," as there are three of us in Dargaville district who are in that photograph (and still going strong). The three of us are A. A. Todd, Bert Nield and H. H. Gulbransen. We often meet and I would like to get in touch with any survivors of No. 4 Platoon, E Company, 13tli Reinforcements. I would like to know if our Platoon Officer. Lieutenant {'.rant, came back to New Zealand. The last I saw of him was with the Stokes mortars at Le Quesnoy, on November 4, 1018. Trusting to hear from "T.W.W.," Auckland. Jn your "Week-End Pictorial" on February 18, 1939, "T.W.W.," Auckland, sends a photograph of No. 4 Platoon, E Company, 13th Reinforcements. As I am one of the boys in the old platoon shown in the photo, I would like you to please forward my address to "T.W.W.," and ask him to please get in touch by dropping me a few lines. — H. H. ("(ioldie") Gulbransen, C/o Ruawai Dairy Co-op., Can 319, Ruawai, Nth. Auckland. It's up to you, "T.W.W." ♦ + ♦ * AFTER 23 YEARS Digger Hears Of Mate Writing from lonely Chatham Islands, 6/2218 R. A. McGregor states that ihrough the Lost Trail column of "The Page" he has now heard word of his old mate of campaigning days, Dave Saunders, after 23 yeare, and he sends grateful thanks. * * ♦ * CALL TO MACHINE-GUNNERS Allow me as a constant reader of "The Page" to say that I find many interesting paragraphs in it, and it is really good to see the number of old comrades who have been brought into ' touch with each other through your columns after so many years. Will you kindly try and see if you can let me know the address of the following:—Ex-machine gunners (Tickers) Private H. T. .Toll, who was wounded at Goose Alley on the Somme in 1916. His number was 11/892, I think; 10/1501 Alex. Greenway, and 10/2462, Sergeant H. J. Alexander. The latter returned to New Zealand on the Kemuera some time in May, 1919. As these Diggers were my great comrades at the front, I would very much like to hear how they are doing after all these years. I would also like to know how things are going with any other Second Company Machine Gun Battalion men. I have met very few of my old machine gun mates since I was discharged, and thought perhaps you may be able to get me in touch with the three men I have mentioned. —10/2667, C.M.S. A. R. Kininmont, late Second Company, N.Z.M.G.8., Miriama Street, Taumaranui.
