RUSH OF ACTIVITY.
BRITISH MOTOR TRADE
The British motor trade reports a tremendous rush of activity; the flow of orders is so strong that companies are having a difficulty in satisfying it. The plants are working to capacity. From the leading firms come optimistic statements. Executives are somewhat less confident in giving reasons for this burst of buying. The general opinion is that the public, which for 18 months has been hanging back because of political and depression fears, has now recovered some of- its confidence in economic recovery There is no evidence of the existence of substantial stocks anywhere. At the same time costs remain reasonably steady. On the material side there is no sign of any significant price increase. The possibility of an increase in labour costs, however, is causing some concern. Unemplovment in the motor cycle and aircraft trade is now only 5 per cent, compared with 10 per cent a year Ago. and most employers report a shortage of certain classes' oflabour. i ' .
