IMPORT LICENSES.
WAITING FOR SCHEDULE.
STATEMENT BY COLLECTOR.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTONS this day.
Applications for import licenses for the second half of the current licensing year are being received daily at the Wellington Customs office, but the collector, Mr. R. J. Grey, stated to-day that he understood many merchants were holding back applications pending an official statement dealing with the second period.
"Many licenses had been issued for the second half for seasonal goods ennumerated in a list published two months ago, but we have received a number of applications for goods we have yet no authority to license. We are still waiting for the schedule for the second period," he added.
