MANY DEMANDS.
NEW SCHOOL BUILDINGS.
MINISTER URGES PATIENCE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HASTINGS, Tuesday.
"We can go only as fust as the economic condition of the country will allow." said the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraeer, when informing the Hawke's Bay Education Board to-day that there was a possibility that the schools building programme might have to be slightly curtailed in the future.
"At present there is a building programme, involving millions, to lie faced," added Mr. Fraser. "This is in spite of what has already been done. Millions, you know, cannot be conjured out of thin air.'-
Mr. Eraser said that patience was absolutely necessary. He appealed to educational authorities not to exaggerate the urgency of their problems.""
The Minister again spent a busy day visiting schools at Napier and Hastings and meeting deputations from school committees. He is expected to leave Hawke's Bay to-morrow.
