INFANT'S DEATH.
FOLLOWING UPON COLD. CORONER ISSUES WARNING. "This cae| shows lio\v important it is to have proper medical advice where an infant Is suffering' with a severe cold. Such cold* in children should not be treated lightly." eaid Mr. K. K. Hunt. city coroner, this morning, at an inquest into the death of .John Charles Anderson, the three-months-old son of John Anderson, of 2, James Lane. The evidence showed that the mother had gone to Ha in llton oil Friday last to visit a sick relative, leaving the child in the cere of a friend. On Sunday morning the child was fed in its perambulator about 3 a.m., but was restless afterwards, dropping off to sleep about ii a.m. At f».40 a.m. a strangeness was noticed in the appearance of the child's face, and though the infant was rushed at once to the Auckland Hospital it died before it could be admitted. Medical evidence was that death was due to acute middle ear disease and inflammation of the brain, following upon a cold, and the coroner returned a verdict accordingly.
