POLO IN WAIKATO.
DOUGLAS CUP AT STAKE. Eight teams and over a hundred ponies were, seen in action when the Morrinsville Polo Club's tournament commenced yesterday. The new Morrinsville full-size polo ground, which was only sown in grass a year ago, provided a good sole of grasb after the dry weather, and there were no accidents to the ponies. The tournament is regarded as a preliminary to the Auckland provincial tourney next month. In. the open competition for the Don Douglas Cup. Waihou A, led by Mobs Fitzgerald, triumphed over Morrinsville B, scoring 7 goals to 1. O'Grady (3), Moss Fitzgerald (2) and G. Wyborne (2).- scored for Waihou. Both teams were on an eightgoal handicap. The final game of the day saw Morrinsville A, holders of the Douglas Cup, just, manage to make up a live-goal handicap and defeat Cambridge juniors by 8 goals to 7. Frank Klaus, of Morrinsville, the Auckland provincial representative full- j back, kept his youthful team-mates together; in great style. Goals were scored for Morrinsville by F. Klaus, J. Klaus (2), K. Douglas (3) and J. Elliott, and for Cambridge by I. Brunskill and R. Garland. Play for the W. S. Goosman Cop {teams of 12 goal handicaps or under) rPsuWwi: Hikutaia S, beat Morrinsville D 6; Hauraki 4, beat Morrinsville C 2. The tournament will terminate on j Friday.
