LABOUR BALL.
SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. BUSH FIRE FUND AIDED. The Cabaret Metropole was crowded last night when, under the auspices of the Labour party, the Auckland Labour Representative Committee held a ball to raise funds for the assistance of the people who have suffered in the recent Australian bush fires. During the evening the president, Mr. J. Sayegli, addressed the gathering and read a letter from the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, in which he expressed regret at heing unable to be present and wished the promoters every success in their effort. On arrival the guests were received by Mrs. A. M. Cassie, who was wearing a frock of black velvet relieved with an inset yoke of ivory and gold satin. Other members of the committee comprised Mrs. E. Phillips, who was wearing a frock of floral crepe on a nigger brown and lime coloured background; Mrs. W. Bruce, who was in black lace; Mrs; A. Meek, who was wearing a frock of black satin; Mrs. N. Slvfield, who was in black crepe; Miss Ella Kydd, who was wearing a frock of black georgette relieved with a coatee of white lace; Miss L. Bruce, who was in a frock of black laquered satin; Mr. T. P. McCreadv, Mr. J. T. Jennings, Mr. A. Slyfield. Mr. W. Cuthbert, Mr. C. Fox and Mr. W. Whiting. Among those present were: Mrs. W. Cuthbert, who was wearing a frock of pastel blue embroidered net; Mrs. T. P. McCreadv, who was in a black crepe frock with an oyster coloured lace yoke and sleeves; Mi's. M. Delich, Mrs. E. Bekker, Mrs. A. D. Hodson, Mrs. E. Nicholson, Mrs. W. Lumley, Mrs. C. Bailey, Mrs. N, Calender, Mrs. C. W. Barlow (Sydney), Mre. A. Sutton, Mrs. M. Sanford, Mrs. L. E. Stangham, Mrs. A. Helmbrecht, Mrs. R. Wickstead, Mrs. W. Timmins, Mrs. L. Brown, Mrs. E. Thompson, Mrs. J. Mitchell, Mrs. H. Bevis, Mrs. J. Armstrong, Mre. W. Johns, Mrs. W. Lee, Mrs. F. E. Dawson, Mrs. I. Datson.
