Mr. G. P. Finlay returned to Auckland by yesterday afternoon's 'plane from Wellington. Mr. James Fletcher returned by the Limited express this morning after a visit to Wellington. Mr. A. G. Fogerty returned by the Limited express 3 this morning after a short business visit to Wellington. Mr. H. Gatty, representative in New Zealand of Pan-American Airways, returned from Wellington by this morning's Limited express. Sir James Grose, who has been visiting Auckland in connection with the Boy Scout movement, returned to Wellington by the early express this afternoon. Mr. C. T. Halsted, manager in New Zealand for Cable and Wireless, Limited, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned by the Limited express this morning. The Rev. A. M. Elliffe, of Devonport, clerk of the Auckland Presbytery, who has been visiting Dunedin on private business, returned by air yesterday afternoon. Dr. T. J. Hughes, Dr. Hubert Smith and Dr. C. B. Gilberd, returned to Auckland iby the Limited express this morning after attending the conference of medical officers of health at Wellington. Mr. J. Stanton has been elected to the Auckland Grammar School Board by members of the Legislative Council and of the House of Representatives resident in Auckland. Only one nomination was received for the position. Dr. L. D. Berkner, who has been visiting Dunedin, will leave for San Francisco in the Mariposa on Monday, accompanied by his wife and daughter. He was a member of the first Byrd expedition to the Antarctic. Mr. Stanley S. Scott will leave in the .Mariposa on* Monday on a business visit to the United States, Canada, England and the Continent. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Scott, and they expect to return by way of South Africa in September.
