Oversea firms whose products have n,et with success on the New Zealand market are said to be in this category, and before any action is taken full inquiries are being made into *Ros, building cost*, and the labour question, fhe latter lias assumed importance by virtue of the shortage of skilled operatives and technicians, many of whom would have to be imported, probably under contract for a fixed term of service. An American firm manufacturing patent foods which have hail a wide sale in the Dominion, is stated to be exploring the possibilities of openin-r a factory, but no definite step has. 'yet been taken.
