SERIOUS CHARGE.
TRIAL OF LABOURER.
The hearing of a charge against Arthur Alfred Skinner, lahmircr, aged 81 (Mr. Aekins) of coniniitttin? rape nt Auckland on October 18 wae continued in the Supreme Court this morning before Mr. Justice Fair and a jury. Mr. V. R. Meredith conducted the case for the Crown. The awaitlt was alleged to have occurred outside the Trades Hall when a dance was held tllPI'O. Aftoij evidence had been given for the Crown accused, in a statement from the dock, denied the charge. The jury after a long retirement found ' accused guilty and he was remanded for sentence.
