Repeating the manner.of his success in the last Auckland Cup meeting, Cheval de Volee led all the way in the Ralph Handicap at Ellerslie to-day and won by a neck from Gay Rote. They were the fourth and fifth favourites in a big field. Racing on a muddy track, with the rain falling, Bronwea won decisively in the Moana Handicap, the opening event on the second day of the Auckland Racing Club's mid-summer meeting at Ellerslie to-day. There was a rmall attendance of the public, and conditions were far from attractive. The jockeye wore overcoats. Bands on their arms showing their numbers guided the public in picking them as the races progressed. In the second event, the Waiwera Hurdles, Pyrenees triumphed by three lengths from Rozel. In this event only (oat horses finished, Hopalong, Tutor and Baldric falling.
