BOOKMAKERS CAUGHT.

riHES AT MABTERTON. (By Telegraph—Prese Association.) MASTERTOX, this day. In the Masterton Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., Jack Brooks was fined £20 and George Herbert Lavery £50 on bookmaking charges. Lavery was described by the police as one of the biggest bookmakers in the town. Both defendants pleaded guilty. On the application of the police a remand was granted in the case in which Arthur Tobb, who pleaded not guilty, was charged with a breach of the Gaming Act.
