Professor A. G. Strong.
"During the 18 years I have been here," said Professor Strong, "the numbers in tli® achool have trebled and the accommodation is now crowded and the conditions are unsuitable. It was due to the efforts of the alumnae that Upper Studholme House was obtained, but even that is now full to overflowing, and there is a very definite need for a new hostel." The speaker explained the arrangement of a proposed new wing to Upper Studholme House. Several largo donations, he said, had been received for the fund—one of £1000 and one of £500, in addition to a number of smaller ones —while branches of alumnae associations in various centres were carrying out good work. The fund had now reached £2000, and they were very hope* ful of obtaining the full amount. The use of St. Helens Hospital had been granted for ten years. They wanted £45,000. J
