STRAWBERRIES SCARCER. TOMATO PRICEB FIRM. POTATOES MUCH CHEAPER. The market was well supplied with fruit to-day, and generally speaking prime quality lines sold well. Peaches and plums are still in heavy supply, with only the best fruit wanted, poor lines being hard to quit. Strawberries are becoming 6carce, and were in good demand to-day. Tomatoes were firm in price to-day, and thjire was a good inquiry for most lines. Lemons were slow of 6ale, the demand being surprisingly poor. The Matua brought a shipment of bananas last night from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Rarotonga. Pawpaws and Avocado pears were also landed. The market is well supplied with oranges, both Californian and Jamaican. Calitornian lemons are also being offered for sale. Fruit. Potatoes are much lower in price this week than last, supplies being heavy. Pumpkins were slightly lower in price. Ohakune produce is arriving in increasing quantities, good supplies of cabbage being available to-day and also green peas. Carrots sold at high prices. Cucumbers were slightly less plentiful, with a corresponding rise in price. Onions wore in heavy supply and prices were a little easier. Lettuce and beans sold at better prices.
