The mysterious death of Thomas McGrory (40), a well-known criminal, is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. A fisherman found his body floating beneath the wharf in Rozelle Bay. ■Medical examination disclosed that AlcGrory had been dead probably since January 11. He was clothed only in trousers, shirt and shoes and in one of is pockets was a Court order to appear a« a witness at the Central Criminal Court. Detective-Sergeant Boswell recognised the shirt McGrory was wearing as one ii i ' IO ' ,a< ' * lven ln when he was called as a witness at the Central Police Court. McGrory was found stabbed in the Domain on December 27. Tlie same day a man was arrested and charged with having wounded him, but McGrory was also charged with having assaulted the man. McGrory, being in hospital as a lesult of his wounds, the case was adjourned. The man who was charged with wounding McGrory is still in Long Bay gaol awaiting trial. After McGrory® body had been found, the police discovered that the address he had given <»in Ultimo was a wool store where he was not known. They say he had no fixed place of abode, but had a criminal record extending over 15 years.
