POWER EXTENSIONS.
AUCKLAND BOARD'S SCHEME
IMMEDIATE UXDERTAIvIXGS.
A schedule of work, estimated to cost I £10,072, for the immediate strengthening of the reticulation in the hoard's area, was reported upon by the generalmanager. Mr. R. H. Bartlcy, at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon. The work is part of the £490,000 scheme adopted by the board some time ago, and includes the provision of outside sub-stations, further 22.000-volt feeders between Penrose and Newmarket. the reinforcing of house services and 0000 and 11,000-volt extensions. Mr. Bartley said that a certain amount of the work included in the £10,072 schedule would require to be completed before the board had next winter's load to contend with. A large amount of material on order was to hand, and he wished to push forward with as much of the work as possible during the summer months. With good fortune, quite a lot of the work could be in progress before the January meeting of the board. The report was adopted.
Mr. Biirtley also reported that the hoard's lines had been extended to Kawakawa Bay, and it was hoped to provide the residents of the district with a supply of electricity before Christmas.
