PRELIMINARY WORK.
hamAton garden suburb.
(From Our Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Tuesday. The Housing Department has authorised the Hamilton Borough Council to proceed with the sewerage work in connection with the establishment of the model garden suburb at Hayes' Paddock, Hamilton East. The eouneil is awaiting final approval from the Department to proceed with the laying down of the streets, footpaths and kerbing before it puts the work in hand.
The council has been advised by the Department that all preliminary work in preparing the area will be carried out by the council and paid for by the Department. Specifications for the laying out of the suburb have been submitted to the Department.
After the roads, footways and kerbing have been completed and the water and gas mains installed, a start will be made on the erection of a footbridge over the Waikato River, and with the erection or the first batch of the 160 State houses that will be built on the site.
