CHRISTMAS FAIR.
ANIMAL WELFARE FUND. A successful Christmns Fair organised hy tho ladies' committee of the Animal Protection Society wan held at the Municipal Hull, Newmarket, yesterday. .• hall was tastefully decorated with streamer* of scarlet and silver, and the various stall* were arranged in rainbow colours. A Rally festooned Christmas tree was a centre of attraction for the children, tfnd another centre of interest was Mrs. J. B. Paterson's collie Captain, whose box collected m substantial sum to augment the Macrea fund for h homo for stray animals. The following Indies hod charge of the various stull*:—Mrs. Harvey Archer, Ice-cream; Mrs, Howcy Walker, Mrs. R. S. Dickie and Miss Nonie Quinnell, fancy works Mrs. F. Bushell, M rs. Stiice and Mrs. W. Black, knick-knacks; afternoon tea, Mrs. C. F. Quinnell and | Mrs. W, Clmneyi flowers and produce, Mrs. ,1. J. Kearney, cakes, Mrs. W. R. (inlden Hnd Mrs. J. S. Whltford; Christmas tree, Mrs. Alderton, Mrs. E. L. Itiu ton and Junior Le«gue; bran dips, Mrs. J. B. Paterson and Mrs. Richard■<nri: sweets, Mrs. H. O. K. Adamson iitul Mrs. Burke. During the afternoon song and dance items were given by pupils of Mile. Viileska. Tho winners of the competitions were.-—Sponge sandwich, Miss ( lough; scones, Mrs. Roue; fancy work, Mrs. R. 8. Dickie. Mrs. Charles Kiigan acted as judge.
