N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd. Calves.—There was a larger entry of c-Jves and the 6aJe was dull, with values generally easier. A few extra well-done vealers and runners sold on a par with last week's sale. Runners, £4 to £8 2/; heavy_ vealers, £5 7/6 to £7; medium, £4 to £5; light, £3 to £3 15/; smaller, £2 to £2 18/; small, £1 to £1 15/; plain calves. 18/ to £1 12/; fresh-dropped calves, 5/ to 14/. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. Beef.—We penned fat cattle to the number of 322 head, comprising 144 steers and 176 cows and heifers, against 297 head last week. A heavy yarding of ox beef (i'nie forward and sold under a keen demand at fully late quotations. Cows and heifers were also penned in full numbers, lint competition was not keen and values eased by fully 20/-per head on late sides. -Kxtva choice ox sold to 40' per 1001b: choice and prime ox. 37 ' to 30,'; ordinary and plain, 33/ to 36/; prime voting cow and heifer beef. 34/ to 36.': ordinary cowbeef. 23/ to 28/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 to £15 10 . the latter price -was for steers from Mr. H. E. Reed.
