ACCIDENT ON STEAMER.

MAN AWARDED DAMAGES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. After a retirement of 35 minutes the jury returned a verdict' for the plaintiff in a case in which .Tames Peter Bruce proceeded against the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited, in the Supreme Court for damages arising out of an accident on the steamer Canopus at Port Chalmers in January. The claim was for £1531 and the jury awarded plaintiff £600 general damages and £31 15/ special damages. Mr. Justice Kennedy was on the Bench. His Honor gave judgment for plaintiff for the total sum of £631 15/, with costs.
