NEW ORGANISATION.

MORE ACTIVE WORK.

To celebrate the forty-fifth anniversary of the granting of franchise to women in I{e«r Zealand and to form an organisation to encourage women to take a more active part in national, political and civic affairs, a morning tea wm held in the Farmers' Trading Company tearooms on Monday. The organinere of the function were Mre. E. R. Armitage, Mre. H. G. Milburn, Mrs. P. Heath-Preett and Mre. St. Clair Woollame. M/ 8. J. A. C. Allum presided over an attendance of al>out 90 representativea from the various women's organisafrione in Auckland. The Mayoress, Lady Davis, who was to have presided, was unnble to be present. Mre. Allum briefly welcomed the guests and explained the objects of the meeting. Speeehe* were made by Mre. Armitage, Mre. Hugh Kasper and Mre. W. B. Darlovr. It was pointed out fhat there were many women in New ZeaInnd who, if given the opportunity, could give valuable nervlce to the country in a public capacity. The organisers planned to form an Rotive body of women who would work in the intereste "of euch when a suitable time presented itself. Another meeting will be held before the elections. A brief epeech of appreciation of the movement was made Dy Mrs. W. H. Parkes.
