SCOTS FOREGATHER.
NORTH SHORE INGLESIDE. *
Many visitors were included in the large attendance at the first ingleside of the North Shore Caledonian Society's third year of operation, at the Foresters' Hall, Devonport, on Saturday evening. Chief Meikle and Captain J. A. Algie, the patron, were piped to the dais "by Piper A. McCord, followed by Chief J. Barbour, the newly-elected chief of the society, Chiefs McTavish a-nd Fulton, Sandringham, Mr. Brown, St. Andrew's Scottish Society and Mr. Marshall, St. j Andrew's Pipe Band. After the opening ceremony of the "National Anthem" and "Scots Wha Hae," Chief Meikle thanked the executive and members for their support during the last two years and hoped that the same would be extended to his successor. He congratulated Mr. Barbour on his election and pinned his badge of office on. The following took part in the musical programme:—Mr. Finlayson, Scottish humour and story; Miss M. Frater, Irish jig and waltz clog; Miss M. Shaw, Highland fling and sean triubhais; Stoker Henman, recitations. Old-time and Scottish dances filled the evening. Supper arrangements were in the hands of the ladies of the committee, Mesdames M. H. Reid, M. Frater, J. Barbour, M. Houghton, A. McLean and Miss Boyle. Decorations were in red and gold, the colours of the Scottish Standard.
