CONSTABLE'S PART.
SYDNEY LEAGUE VISITOR.
BOY'S TERRIFYING ORDEAL.
The Sydney policeman who at the end of July played a conspicuous part in the thrilling rescue of a boy from drowning at Rose Bay. on the line of granite cliffs which guard the NewSouth Wales coast line. Mr. Harry Pierce, arrived from Sydney on the Monterey this morning.
He is an international forward, one of the three members of the police force travelline; with the Eastern Suburbs Rugby League side, which is to play three matches against Auckland club teams. It was a Newcastle boy, 14-year-old Jack Trenbath, who wis the * central figure in this rescue drama. He had ventured out to the low rocks at the foot of the cliffs. He fell 1.1 feet and injured his head and back, and could not move. Constable Pierce went to his help, and aided by several others at last got the boy to safety after a terrifying ordeal. "The boy got all right again later," he said this morning. 'It was a pretty close shave, but it's all forgotten now," he added.
