N.Z. FIELD ENGINEERS.
ANNUAL REUNION HELD. Meeting for their eleventh annual reunion, 150 ex : members of the New Zealand Field Engineers gathered in Auckland on Saturday night, one member.. travelling from Invercargill and two from-Dun-edin to be present. Mr. N. L.Higginaon, or Okoroire, presided. The toast of "Fallen Comrades" was honoured impressively, Mr. S.' 'P. Carter proposing it and reciting "For The Fallen." The "Last Post" was played by Mr. A. W. B. McGuire, and a"■ minute's silence was ,observed. .'-'..' - '■'..' .'
Other toasts were honoured as follows: The King; the New Zealand Engineers, proposed by Lieutenant-Colonel 0. N. Newman, replied. to ,by Mr.. A. W. Thomas; Navy, Army and Air Force, proposed by Captain R. F. Bale, replied to by Engineer Commander F. W. Jones (Navy), Lieutenant-Colonel N. McD. Weir (Army) and Squadron-Leader J. Seabrook (Air Force); Visitors, proposed by Nfr.. W. Todd, replied to by Mr. Bryce Hart; the "Anssies," proposed by Major H. M. Clark and replied' to by Captain H. J. Beavis; Returned Soldiers' Association and kindred associations, proposed by Mr. L. Waygood and replied to by Mr. A. H. Turner.
A number of musical itemß were given, the artists S. Duncan, E. W. Robins, W. Armour, I. Lambert, T. Ellison, A. H. Turner and H.;F. Tilley. The prize for the best Digger story was won by Mr. W. Todd for the fourth year in succession. The judges were LieutenantColonel J. W. Craven and Mr. Bryce Hart.
