PARADE OF YOUTH.
ANNUAL CHURCH SERVICE.
The annual church parade of the Boys' Brigade was held yesterday morning in the school hall of the Dominion Road Methodist Church. The salute was taken by Mr. G. T. Paterson, president of the brigade, who was also the inspecting officer. Owing to the bad weather there was an attendance of only about 120 boys.
The Eev. E. W. Hames, M.A., who conducted the service, took as his text Timothy 11., verses 2 and 3. "A good soldier of Jesus Christ,"-and pointed out that the training of the brigade helped to develop youth into clean and healthy channels. Tidiness, too, as an outward sign, would also tend to keep their inward minds on higher idealß. Some boys thought that to be religious meant giving up the good things of life, but that was- not so. Taking a definite stand for Christ made life grander and nobler.
At the conclusion of the service the colours marched out first, followed by the president. Then came Mr. F. A. Bennett, commanding officer; Commissioner Johns, representing the boy scouts; Lieutenant R. Dawson, battalion secretary of the Girls' Life Brigade, accompanied by Captain L. Taylor, also from the Girls' Life Brigade; and Mr. Schofield, St. John Ambulance. The battalion marched along Balmoral Road, where an official march pa6t took place.
