One of the and youngest boys taking part in the high schools' Kiifjby tournament in the South Island was L. V. Hlaikic. who jrave » courageous dis])lay nt full-buck for Southland against the fast and heavy New Plymouth team. This lad is only 1.1 and weighs barely fist, but already lie has made something <.'' a reputation for himself in sport. Ir/in;; outstanding in the junior (under j 1">) events at the Otajro secondary ] (school* , athletic championship meeting in Oainai'ii last November. Tie won the WOyds in 11 :{-.")s. and ran a heat in 11 2-ss, establishing -'i record of 22 3-5s in winning the furlong, and another record of ilO 2-.>s in takin™ the 440 yds. In the swimming world he is also a prominent Southland competitor, being a very promising diver and a contender for intermediate honours this season. ,
