OPENING OF TIBBETT SEASON. Auckland music-lovers will have the Tibhet? aDd hearin 8 Lawrence iw? American baritone, in the Sr?n 3 o. 4 , gala concert in the Town Hall on September 13. His programme for that night includes "The Glorv Roa?" the Prologue from 'Tagliacci." "Largo " c om he Barber of wl-l ' v» e „ Son S of the Flea." "The White Dove." "Mandalay," Handel's <3 ? Er ® You Walk," as well as other ;t, D , ems ~ y Schubert, Tschaikowa and other old masters. Fmmf°' 1 T 88 he is to big audiences in Lurope, Lawrence Tibbett was not quite prepared for the huge and enthusiastic audiences which recently greeted him in the Australian State capitals, where he broke all records, besides making many tnends back stage. Perfect relaxation and control provide a medium which permits the beauty of this great artist s voice to flow without constraint. The resonant and floating quality of his tone carries the sound, even in pianissimo, without effort to the furthest corners of the hall, while hie diction is always outstanding.
