A Gallipoli Memory. JOHNNIE, of the Ist Otago Battalion, was with the Lewis gun team in the front line, when one dark night the Hun made a raid on our line«. After being repulsed by our men, there were heard stealthy footsteps approaching close to Johnnie's men. Suddenly two Huns walked into the post held by the Lewis gun team Johnnie promptly switched the gun around at them, and up went their hands. "Mercie Kamerad," they shouted, knocking at the knees. "Compree, Madame," exclaimed one. "To h —• with Madame," eaid Johnnie, "Got any souvenirs?" ■ The Huns promptly "coughed np" watches, rings, etc. H. L., InvercargilL
