BASEBALL.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. TEAM TO PLAY WELLINGTON. The value of baseball as a means of recreation for those not engaged in other summer sports was stressed b.v several speakers at the first general meeting of the newlv-formed Auckland Baseball (soft ball J Association held at the Y.M.C.A. It was agreed to select a representative team to stage a match against a Wellington team at Blandford Park on Labour Day. Entries were received from Hobsonville Air Base, Pioneers, A. Harvey and Sons, Ltd., Mount Albert (2). Y.M.C.A. (2), Johns. Ltd.. Post and Telegraph, Transport Workshops and Mormons. It was anticipated that a number of other teams would be entering the competition, which will commence early in November.
