LADIES' GOLF.
TITLES DECIDED. SOUTH AU CKItAND TO MRS. P. R. GLANVILLE. MRS. F. MANDER, RUNNER-UP. Maintaining the consistent form which she displayed throughout the tournament, Mrs. P. R. Glanville (Te Awamutu) won the final of the South Auckland ladies' golf championship for the Ellis Cup yesterday, defeating Mrs. F. Mander, Hamilton, 3 and 2, after an excellent contest. The final of the handicap match play for the Kiaser Cup resulted in a win for Miss J. McCready, Otahuhu. who beat Mrs. A. F. Walker, Maungakiekie, 4 and 2. Jn spite of rain at times, the weather was fairly fine at the St. Andrews links for the semi-finals and finals. The course was very holding. Good goh was played in the semi-finals of the championship. Mis. Glanville eliminated Miss N. Beverley, the nine handicap Matamata player, who has periormed excellently throughout the tournament. Both players took 82 strokes for the round which ended in the champion's favour, 2 and 1. The Hamilton club title-holder, Mi*. Mander, established an early lead over Mrs. L. I. Day, Hamilton, in the second semi-final and was not troubled to win at the 15th, at which stage she was 5 up. Following are the results of the play:— Ellis Cup.—Semi-finals : Mrs. P. It. Glanville (Te Awamutu) beat Miss X. Beverley (Matamata), 2 and 1 ; Mrs. F. Mander (Hamilton) beat Mrs. 1,. I. Day (Hamilton), 5 up. Filial : Mrs. P. R. Glanville (Te Awamutu) beat Mrs. F. Mander (Hamilton), 3 and 2. Fraser Cup.—Semi-finals: Mrs. A. F. Walker (Maungakiekie) beat Mrs.-C. A. Arthur (Hamilton), 1 up at the 20th; Miss I. McCready (Otahuhu) beat Mrs. D. Symmans (Whakatane). 3-and 1. Final: Miss I. McCready (Otahuhu) beat Mrs. A. F. Walker (Maungakiekie), 4 and 2. A foursomes competition played yesterday was won by Miss E. Robinson (Cambridge) and Miss J, Littleproud (Hamilton», the runhers-up: Joeing Mrs. J. I). Joy (Hamilton! and Mrs. D. McCrone (Maungakiekie). These pairs tied, the former winning on a recount, Putting competitions resulted as follows: First day, Mrs. F. Mander (Hamilton) ; second (lay, Miss E. Madeley (Hamilton) ; third day, Mrs. Symmans (Wliakatane). Aggregate: Miss N. Hitchlngs (Te Kuiti).
