PLANNED MIGRATION.

NEED FOR N.Z. POLICY.

THREAT OF PRESENT TRENDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MASTERTON, Thursday. That with the of the present trends and no migration New Zealand's population would never reacn 1,750,000, but would dwindle to about 200,000 in 100 years was the assertion made to Masterton Rotarians to-day by Mr. L. R. Palmer, who was lecturing on behalf of.the Dominion Settlement Association. Mr. Palmer stressed the urgent need of a policy of planned and adequately financed migration, not only as a means of making New Zealand a better place to live in. but also as a means of showing other nations that we were prepared to use the country we claimed and not adopt a dog-in-the-manger attitude. A Masterton branch of the association is being formed.
