FIRST STATEMENT. Limit to Tolerance Shown Fascist Powers. SIR J. SIMON SUPPORTED. United Press Association—Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, August 31. Making Labour's first pronouncement on the crisis, Mr. C. R. Attlee in an article in the "Daily Herald " approves Sir John Simon's speech as a warning that there is a limit to the tolerance hitherto given Fascist Powers. He urges that this should be followed up by a positive peace policy, rallying democratic peace-loving forces all over the world. Mr. Attlee adds: "There is abundant evidence that the peoples of Italy, Germauy and Japan resent huge sacrifices demanded of them. lam convinced that if it is made plain that aggression does not pay, the peaceful elemeSits in Fascist countries will make their influence felt provided that, simultaneously, a way i 8 opened for international co-operation by a strengthened League, removing causes of friction, especially of an economic nature!

A friendship tour of Germany by Yorkshire business men and civic representatives, headed by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, has been indefinitely postponed, as it is considered "the time is inopportune."
